The oldest ancestors of the Krom family but also of Ankie Krom-Verhoeven are (a few) dynasties of Egyptian pharaohs,
I thank Johan Scholte for his data (Johan Scholte is a great-nephew of Ankie Krom-Verhoeven). 
It was the custom during the Egyptian Dynasties to intermarry with brothers and sisters as well as fathers and daughters
"to keep the bloodline pure". Examples are also known from the Roman empire where this was done.
